Most likely so.
In regards to your situation are you claiming any benefits yourself and just want to check you are in receipt of disability living allowance at the moment?

The basic criteria for carers allowance is:

•You must be 16 years old or over
•You must look after someone for at least 35 hours a week
•The person you look after must receive a qualifying disability benefit
•If you work you must not earn more than £100 (2010-2011 rate)
•You must not get one of a list of other benefits
•You must be living in the UK when you claim Carer's Allowance
•You must not be a full-time student

Hi,

If your son gets DLA at middle or higher rate care and you spend at least 35 hours a week caring for him, then you can make a claim for Carers Allowance.

You get less than minimum wage (£53.20) per week but it better than nothing. You can also earn upto £92.00 per before carers allowance is affected.

CA is a taxable benefit so you will need to inform the DWP, tax credits and housing benefits office
